Would you be able to speak to the Warner Robins Newcomer’s Club on Sep 9th? This club was started early 1979 with only six ladies who saw a need in the community to provide those coming into Warner Robins information, encouragement, and social activities to help each develop friendships and become a part of the community. After months of contacting new arrivals to the area, the dream became a reality when on August 8, 1979 the Newcomer’s Club of Warner Robins was officially established. As the club grew, it moved from meeting in living rooms to the Trinity Methodist Church Youth Building, then to Flint Electric on Elberta Road. In April 2008, the Newcomer’s Club moved to the Flint Electric Building on Highway 96. Our membership has averaged 150 during the last 3 years with an average monthly attendance of over 50. Newcomer’s Club offers support and welcoming friendship to those who are experiencing new situations in the community. It also helps them to find the goods and services they need through our directory, as well as by word of mouth and personal recommendations. This is our primary mission.

Secondly, we support various local charitable organizations with monetary donations through our Community Service Program. Last year’s recipient was the Heart of Georgia Developmentally Disabled Men’s Ministry, along with our continuing support of the Ronald McDonald House through collection of pop tabs. We count on the support of businesses and other organizations who advertise ino our directory.

Most of the ladies attending our meeting each month could be categorized as “senior” in that most are over the age of 60. Many of the original members are still in the club today. We ask that the speaker not exceed 30 minutes in speaking. We do provide a modest stipend of $60 for a guest speaker.

You can speak on any subject you please. Thanks for you consideration.
Frances Hodge, Vice President, WR Newcomer’s Club

    Frances:
Sorry. I just found your note in the “pending” section of my website. I’m so sorry. I will not be able to speak on Sept. 9 because I’m speaking to a group of blind citizens at Temple Beth Israel at lunch that day (you’ve probably already secured a speaker by now). If you would like me to come back another time, I will be more than happy. Also, your group sounds like it might be something for me to write about. Once again, sorry for the dealy in getting back to you. In the future, would you please also e-mail me at gris@macon.com. That’s my work e-mail. …. Gris

  3. Hey, I just hopped over to your site via StumbleUpon. Not somthing I would normally read, but I liked your thoughts none the less. Thanks for making something worth reading.
